A Well-Read Tart

A Food and Book Lover’s Blog

Thank You and Happy Holidays

HELLO to all my wonderful readers!

(I kinda wanna call you Tartlets. Can I do that? If Taylor Swift can have “Swifties,” maybe I can have Tartlets? Hmm. Will ponder this.)

This has been a pretty exciting month for A Well-Read Tart: one of my pins for the Man-Catcher Cake went semi-viral, and I ended up receiving a record-high 5000 daily views at one point!

That’s pretty big news for the Tart, and, from what I gather, that’s pretty big news in the blogging world, as well! That lovely little pin is still making the rounds on Pinterest and generating more publicity for the blog, and I have no doubt that’s how some of you newbies found your way to my blog and signed up for regular updates.

Which brings me to Item #1 of this email: WELCOME to all the new readers who have subscribed to the Tart recently! I’m so happy to have you join us. Thank you so much for being willing to receive yet another email into what I suspect is your already overflowing inbox. I look forward to sharing more content with you about books, food, and writing!

And, of course, to all my longtime followers — thank you for your unwavering support and love. Although I’m happy to see my readership expand, I’m always so grateful to the readers who have been with me from the start!

Okay. Stopping Now. Getting emotional. #allthelove

Let’s move to Item #2: A Well-Read Tart is now on Twitter! I had initial reservations about jumping into the Twittersphere (everything I hear about it seems so dang negative), but I’m happy to say that the Twitter community (particularly my fellow bloggers) has been wonderfully welcoming.

I’m excited for a new way to share my original content with you, as well as content I love and am inspired by from others. So, if you haven’t already followed me @awellreadtart on Twitter, I would love it if you would so do now. 🙂 And, as always, please spread the word to others! I’ll be a little slow to start with the tweets, but I hope to be actively using that platform in the new year.

Which brings me to Item #3: Starting today, I’m taking a little blogging break in order to celebrate Christmas and enjoy my much-needed vacation. New reviews and recipes will resume in January, along with some other fun ideas I have up my sleeve for 2019.

As a fellow blogger recently said in her thank you email, this blog didn’t exist this time last year. It wasn’t even a thought in my head. A Well-Read Tart will be six months old on January 1, and I am deeply grateful to each and every person who has taken a few seconds (or more) to read what I have to say on this blog. Without you, dear readers, I’d just be rambling to myself. Thanks for making me a legit writer with an audience instead of just someone with access to a keyboard and the Internet.

That’s all, my Tartlets! (See what I did there? I’m trying it out.) Thank you all again SO MUCH for everything. I hope everyone has a happy and healthy holiday week, and I’ll see you on the Interwebs.

Love, books, and carbs,

CJ

  1. I love being called a Tartlet!! Carry on!! Just be careful if you call us tarts and spellcheck/Siri accidentally makes that ‘farts’….I feel like that could be very bad for branding and your niche. Unless you know, you want people to eat and toot. AND 5,000 DAILY VIEWS IS INCREDIBLE!!! Holy cow!!!!! Congrats. I am in awe and that is amazing. My site would have crashed for sure, but I would be so happy to see that much traffic. You are killing it. Also, welcome to Twitter. Besides the occasional bitter (usually woman…I say this as a woman) troll, I find that I LOVE the platform the most out of my socials. It’s easy, low maintenance, people are nice, and no one seems uberly concerned with engagement/followers/reciprocation/etc and all the crap that IG has been about lately.

  2. Yes! Another “Tartlet” supporter!! I think two positive votes are all I really need to move this item into action, lol. Noted about “farts,” though; that is precisely why I have my spellchecker turned off, hahahaha. Thanks for the encouragement about Twitter! Admittedly, it’s not my favorite platform yet; I find it hard to keep up with since I can’t be on my phone during most of the day because of “regular” work. This week on vacation has really upped my Twitter game, though! If I could tweet at my own leisure, I could totally rock this social media, haha. We’ll see how it goes in 2019… 😀

  3. I, for one, am totally cool with being called a tartlet.

Also, happy six month-aversary! (on the first). We are almost exactly six months apart in blog age, mine will be one year on the 6th 🙂
