“What’s up, bitches???” (If you know, you know!) I’m here with a book review for Grateful as F*ck: 22 Days to Transform Your Life with Gratitude by Francesca Amber, one of my favorite podcasters and motivational gurus.
What’s Grateful as F*ck about?
Grateful as F*ck provides daily prompts — for 22 days — on how to live a more grateful, meaningful life. Author Amber injects her personal experiences, valuable insight, and delightfully foul-mouthed humor into each exercise to help you build a greater sense of contentment and appreciation for what you already have. Which is something we could all use, goddammit. Practicing gratitude will help you manifest a life of the things you want to have.
Grateful as F*ck reminds me a lot of The Magic, the best-selling gratitude and manifesting book by Rhonda Byrne. Which isn’t surprising since Amber is a huge fan of The Magic. It was her repeated and enthusiastic raving about that book that convinced me to read it. (Note: I’ve read The Magic twice now, and both times it’s been life-changing for me. Thanks, Fran!)
What I love about Grateful as F*ck
What’s great about Grateful as F*ck – other than its title – is that it’s a modernized and easier-to-digest version of The Magic. Byrne’s self-help book was published in 2013. In 2025, many of its daily prompts feel dated. Especially for a younger audience who isn’t used to carting around actual photos or making phone calls instead of texting.
Grateful as F*ck gives you ideas for gratitude that are easy to execute and firmly rooted in contemporary culture and society. While many of the exercises are similar to those in The Magic, Amber adds her own spin with new prompts that inspire you to do things like build a gratitude playlist (here’s mine!), donate to a local food pantry, and organize parts of your home to express how much you appreciate it.
Was my life transformed by reading Grateful as F*ck?
I was prepared to admit that my life wasn’t magically transformed while reading Grateful as F*ck: 22 Days to Transform Your Life with Gratitude. However…
On Day 20 – Day 20, people!! Talk about taking your sweet time, universe – I had a gigantic epiphany about my women’s fiction novel, Hyggely Ever After. I’d been querying Hyggely Ever After to literary agents for a little over a year at that point.
One of the things Grateful as F*ck teaches you is that, with gratitude and manifesting, the absence of a sign can be a sign. And, despite many agents requesting to review the full manuscript and two hybrid publishing offers, my publishing debut with Hyggely Ever After wasn’t manifesting. And I was like, Whyyyyyy? Why isn’t this happening for me? I’m ready. It’s ready. WE’RE SO READY. Why isn’t it here yet??
Because the universe knew better, bitch.
Long story short, while listening to a fortuitously timed podcast about hygge, it came to me in a flash that Hyggely Ever After isn’t actually ready for publication. It needs some revision before it’s released into the world. Which means I am SO. FREAKIN’. HAPPY. that I don’t have a publishing deal for this book right now.
As Amber repeatedly states, the universe completely had my back; it had a better plan for me than I did. Letting go of control and trusting the universe is a key part of manifesting, and it’s something that Amber really emphasizes in Grateful as F*ck. I’d bought into the concept before, but Day 20 made me a full-on believer. I firmly believe that I was led to listen to that podcast at that time, which led to my amazing epiphany, because of my work with Grateful as F*ck.
Should you read Grateful as F*ck?
If you’re curious about the law of attraction, manifesting, and the power of gratitude, I urge you to try Grateful as F*ck. Like another one of my favorite and similar motivational books, Happy Jobs, Amber’s book is a palatable and a fun read designed to help you live a happier, fuller life that manifests miracles.
Bonus for podcast listeners: I love listening to Amber’s podcast, Law of Attraction Changed My Life. Her sense of humor always makes me cackle. Amber writes like she speaks, which totally enhanced the reading experience for me. I read Grateful as F*ck in “her voice,” and it really helped drive home the messages for me. I recommend listening to a few of her podcast episodes before reading so you can enjoy this experience, too.
